Spring 07 Fashion Week

Happy fashion week! Since I'm working a crazy amount of hours this week I've hardly had time to keep up with all of the collections being shown at Olympus Fashion Week. Today I got off at a reasonable hour so my evening has been spent planted in front of my laptop for the last three hours catching up on everything. I won't bore you on any more details of my personal life, on to the good stuff!

So far Marc Jacobs is the obvious standout collection thus far. Like many of the other lines that were shown, Marc used a lot of white and neutral colors, however I didn't feel like I was looking at the same short white trapeze tank dress again and again. Everything had a very whimsical feel to it, from the catwalk which looked like the yellow brick road on acid to the huge, crazy hairpieces (I don't really know what to call them!). While I wouldn't say that I loved each look that came down the runway, at least each one felt interesting, fresh, and/or fun.


I also really liked Proenza Schouler for the way they incorporated colors and stripes in with the use of black and white/dark and neutral.


Some trends that seem to be very prevalent- bubble hems, trapeze dresses, lots of volumn, t-shirt dresses, black and white, neutral colors. As for accessories- skinny belts, big necklaces.
