Viktor & Rolf

Whoa, how trippy was the Viktor & Rolf show!? The models reminded me of little string-puppet dolls each on their own mini stage. Although I loved looking through the slides, after reading the runway review on style.com I do feel bad for those poor models who had to struggle through making it down the runway alive.

C'est un temps de chien

The weather has been far too rainy, cold, and depressing which calls for bright and fun rain accessories to make leaving the house less of a drag.

Oscars

Okay, so I didn't actually watch the Oscars but I did flip through all of the photos to see what everyone wore. Favorites...

Reese in a Theyskens for Nina Ricci gown

Gwyneth in Zac Posen (I posted a pic of this dress a few entries back from Zac's runway show, that's how much I liked it). This one doesn't seem to be too popular judging by others' reactions, but I think it was the most interesting dress to look at and while it would probably be unflattering on most people, Gwyneth rocks it.

Rinko Kinuchi in Chanel

Dr. Scholls shoes

Lately I've been obsessed with finding new shoes. Right now I'm thinking of ordering these t-strap pumps by Dr. Scholls. Cute, versatile, and likely to be very comfortable. Now, which color, black or honey oat?

Valentine

Today while doing some online browsing I discovered that one of my favorite new up and coming designers Valentine Leung's designs can be now be purchased at activeendeavors.com. I particularly love the Stella trapeze dress.

Check out her website www.valentineleung.net to see the rest of the adorable spring 07 collection as well as the new autumn 07 collection.

Marni

The Marni show is one of my favorite shows so far. I love how Castiglioni is able to update her collections and push things further without losing that instantly recognizable Marni-look. I don't normally gravitate towards the sporty and futuristic looking materials because they can sometimes look so uncomfortable and unnatural, but here they were cut and draped so beautifully that every single look was insanely chic. There were the right splashes of color in the right places and everything was pulled together with a belt cinched around the waist, black leggings/tights, and sometimes with a fabulous arty-craftsy necklace.

Prada

You've got to hand it to Miuccia for always keeping us guessing. This collection was no exception with colorful, furry mohair everywhere from coats to hats, the plastic-looking raw edge leather, and the funky clutch bags and shoes. However interesting and cool the collection was to look at, I shudder to think of what most of these pieces would look like us normal people walking down the street. Of course, the beauty of it all is that next season everyone will be drawing influence from Prada and it won't seem weird at all.

I did love the brightly colored foot-less knee socks though. The perfect replacement for those coveted slouchy thigh-highs.

NY Fashion Week

Of course fall's fashion week has to start while I'm in the middle of cramming for midterms. Oh well, makes for a nice study break, just as long as I can tear myself away from the computer screen long enough to practice differential equations and French vocabulary.

So far I have really liked what I've seen. Color and sparkling embellishments, gorgeous silky fabrics mixed with classic fall/winter heavier and warmer material.

The Marc Jacobs show was fun to look through, the models looked so insanely chic with their hats of all sizes. Like those gorgeous femme fatale actresses had stepped out from their black and white movie screens into the modern world.

Loved the DKNY show, Parisian chic just always looks right. And how perfect since I will be living in Paris this fall. I can see it now, me sitting in a cafe on a cold, overcast Paris afternoon, wearing one of DKNY's little miniskirts with wool tights and a beret.

And who could forget Carolina Herrera? I loved nearly every piece for their intricate and luxurious details.

I love how Herrera turned a plaid school-girl type skirt into something totally glamourous.

Anyway, as much as I'd love to be here all night posting pictures of my favorite looks thus far, it's already 11:30pm and I've got homework plus an full schedule of classes tomorrow. A bientot!

I still can't get these damn Miu Miu platform sandals out of my head. Even at the sale price of $158 they are still beyond my budget.

Back for good, I hope!

I keep forgetting about this thing. Between checking/updating myspace, facebook, livejournal, e-mail, and about a billion other things, updating my blog completely slips my mind.

Anyway, it is officially winter here and it's most depressing but luckily there is a lot to look forward to when comes to spring shopping.

Once again there is another slew of high/low designer collaborations such as Proenza Schouler for Target (3 more days!), Giles Deacon for British retalier New Look, Nanette Lepore for Keds, Lela Rose for Payless, and Anna Sui lingerie for Victoria's Secret to name a few

I'm excited for Lepore's Keds, which should hit the website anyday now. I've always had a soft spot for Lepore's pretty and feminine designs, and the spring Keds ads starring Mischa Barton feature Lepore's designs which compliment her Keds. I'm leaning toward the white sneaker-flats with the cursive writing, which I think would look great with a little black or white summer dress.
